I am proof that your course WORKS

Pam - @hooksandhills

Hi Tian, I just wanted to tell you that I spent the last 2 days on your Get Published course and I absolutely loved it!! Such a wealth of information! Every single interview was packed with fantastic insights. I am at the very start of my publishing journey and I'm so happy I found your course. I have now made my first ever design submission 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in this way. Best wishes from Australia! Pam Hello again Tian! I just wanted to share with you that I am proof that your course WORKS 🙂 My first ever magazine submission was rejected. I decided to ask for feedback. I wasn't really expecting a response because I know hundreds of people will have received the same rejection email. However, I received this from the We Crochet editor within the hour: "Your submission was great! We ended up deciding not to do the road trip collection as we just didn’t get enough strong projects. I would encourage you to submit again for us and other places as well. Your presentation was very clear for me to understand what the project would be and the photos were great! Hope to see you submit again in the future!" I could have stewed on it, said nothing, and allowed it to crush the last vestiges of my already dwindling confidence. Instead, I will now have my post school-run coffee, woman up, and get back to work! I based my submission on your course, and my response to rejection was also based on your course. I can't thank you enough for putting together such a valuable resource! P 💕Thanks Tian, will do! I think including the after submission/rejection module in the course was a brilliant idea - keeps the attitude right. I remember especially you said, after rejection, you have to feel the feels - important in all of life, right! And guess what?? I submitted a different idea somewhere else that afternoon, and it was accepted!! Small steps! Just gunna keep at it, a little each day 🙂🙂 Wish you a great weekend 🙂 Pam

I was feeling very intimidated

Kam - @handknitbykam

I was feeling very intimidated and that my expertise level wasn’t at it yet. I felt like I had to be a huge designer to be able to send out submissions to big companies. The course has helped me ease some doubts and has definitely made me feel confident because it has explained step by step what needs to be done. It doesn’t feel like I am stepping into the unknown and it makes me feel confident that by following the steps and advice you and others have shared in the series I have a kind of checklist I can go through before submitting anything. I have been thinking more and more about submitting designs and approaching bigger name companies for collaborations. It has definitely been the push I needed. My next step is submitting 2 designs for the KP submission call. And I have also began prepping other designs that I want to keep handy because I want to start gearing more into submissions next year.

3rd party publication wasn’t a thought or consideration

Tanya - @yarngonewild_yarncraft

3PL [3rd party publication] wasn’t a thought or consideration. It [Get Published] created an awareness of 3PL [3rd party publication] as a path to build and expand my Brand, share with others as well as reflect an under-represented group and aesthetic (on many levels) in the fiber arts world. I have applied for WC IDP [WeCrochet Independent Designer Partnership] as well as a couple of other “get published or featured” opportunities. Complete paperwork for my first ever 3PL [3rd party publication] design idea, prep for a Yarn Supplier feature, Complete final samples, etc, for IDP proposal submitted.

Great resource, even if you've 'been there, done that!'

I wanted to thank Knit Picks and WeCrochet for sponsoring this free, online course. It really is a great resource even for those of us who 'been there, done that!'

WHO IS GET PUBLISHED (6-part video series) FOR?

You are at the very early stage of designing. Maybe you're getting ready to self-publish your first pattern or you have a handful of self-published patterns and ready to take that next step.

You have a solid catalog of self-published patterns and you're ready to take that next step. Maybe you've tried in the past with various results. Maybe you've worked with a 3rd party publication in the past and now you're ready to make this a regular part of your business model.

  • How does Get Published (6-part video series) works?

Get Published is a 6-part video series founded for aspiring and experienced designers who are ready to take their designing to the next level by adding 3rd party publications. Twice each month starting April 1, 2021, until June 2021, a new video is added. Each video takes you through the process from creating your proposal all the way to the publication going live. Once all 6 parts have been released in mid-June 2021, you will have access to all the videos that you can watch as much as you'd like Netflix and continue having access to.
